- Description
- The Marvine-Phippsburg Highway Reconstruction project, CO PFH 16-1(1), in White River and Routt National Forests, Colorado, is tentatively scheduled for advertisement in February 2005. This advanced notice is being given as weather and site conditions may prevent contractor viewing during time of advertising for bids. Representatives from the Federal Highway Administration, in cooperation with the US Forest Service, and Rio Blanco County, will conduct a site visit/question and answer session on Tuesday October 5, 2004, from 8 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m. A brief overview of the day's proposed schedule will be presented prior to the site visit. A formal question and answer session will be held immediately following the site visit at Dunkley Pass. Questions will only be answered during the formal Q/A session to allow for accurate record of memorandum. Minutes will be distributed at the time of advertisement as an appendix to the solicitation. Preliminary plan sets will be available for review during the site visit, but will be collected following the Q/A session. There are no scheduled breaks so plan accordingly for meals and refreshments. The project begins in White River National Forest approximately 31.5 miles east of Meeker, Colorado, and continues easterly 41.5 miles through Routt National Forest approximately 8 miles west of Yampa. The solicitation will contain three similar but separate schedules. Bid submittals must contain a total price for each Base Schedule with only one schedule to be awarded depending on availability of funding. An option, representing similar additional work will also be included within the solicitation. The work consists of gravel road rehabilitation of the Flat Tops Trail Scenic and Historic Byway. The roadway is to be reconditioned and aggregate surface course is to be placed for the length of the project. A dust palliative is to be placed along portions of the route to match the Rio Blanco County maintenance plan. The construction efforts are to be confined to the roadway surface. Major bid items on the largest schedule include: lump sum contractor testing; 5,000 mgal watering for dust control; 115,000 tons aggregate surface course; 870,000 sq yds roadway reconditioning; heavy equipment operators; and temporary traffic control. The estimated price range is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. Those planning to attend should meet at 8:00 a.m. at the Freeman Fairfield Center located at 200 Main Street in Meeker, CO 81641. Contractors not attending the briefing should plan to meet at the Lost Creek Ranger Station no later than 9:00 a.m. to begin the site visit. The Lost Creek Ranger Station is approximately 31.5 miles east of Meeker on the route. If you would like to attend the preshow, please contact Lori Kliethermes at 720-963-3353 or Ryan Tyler at 720-963-3729 by October 1, 2004. ATTENDANCE AT THE PROJECT PRESHOW IS NOT MANDATORY TO BID THE PROJECT, HOWEVER CONTRACTORS ARE ENCOURAGED TO DO SO.
