Description
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for sole source commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subparts 12.6 of the Federal Acquisition Regulations, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, and a written solicitation will not be issued. This announcement incorporates commercial items provisions and clauses in affect through Federal Acquisition Circular 01-24. The North American Industrial Classification System code is 333312 Surgical and Medical Instruments Manufacturing, with a small business size standard of 500 employees. The Government intends to award a Firm Fixed Price purchase order under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP), to Boston Scientific for their EPT-1000 XP Cardiac Ablation System. Any parties that believe that they can satisfy the requirements below should send written documentation to Bonnie Pijanowski at VA Medical Center, 3495 Bailey Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14215 (mail routing symbol 90). All qualifications must be received no later than Tuesday, September 14, 2004. The following is a list of new features required for this equipment: 1. Radio frequency ablation generator. 2. Temperature control. 3. Higher power (70-100W) compatibility with multiple catheter vendors and large tip catheters (allows larger volume lesions and target thick regions). 4. Compatible with multiple EP recording systems (GE at least). 5. Power output. 6. Compatibility with cooled tip catheters. 7. Controller technology offers a proprietary temperature measuring algorithm; intuitive user interface with proven, robust, reliable design. 8. 100 watts RF power for thick isthmus regions. 9. 8mm and 10mm tip electrode catheters for larger volume lesions. 10. 8mm contour tip electrode is designed to enhance tissue contact in the isthmus region. 11. Chronic results demonstrate 96% effectiveness for long-term treatment of type 1 atrial flutter; multi-center clinical trial quality of life data shows; marked improvement in daily activity; severity and frequency of symptoms decreased by 75% with a reduced need for medication (based on clinical trial results to date).
