Description
THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT, NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. A SOLICITATION WILL NOT BE ISSUED. PROPOSALS ARE NOT BEING REQUESTED. The National Institute of, Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) of the National Institute of Health (NIH), intends to negotiate on a noncompetitive basis with the National Academy of Sciences, National Research Council, 2001 Wisconsin Avenue NW., Washington, DC 20007, to provide partial support of the international workshop on ?Strategies for Preserving and Sharing Digital Scientific Information Resources to Promote Sustainable Development in the Southern African Region.? The National Academies of Science, Policy and Global Affairs Division, Board on International Scientific Organizations in conjunction with the U.S. National Committee (USNC) for the Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA) in cooperation with the South African National Committee for CODATA and the International CODATA?s Task Group on Preservation and Archiving of Scientific and Technical Data in Developing Countries, are the sponsors for this workshop and the only responsible source capable of fulfilling this requirement. Therefore, a competitive acquisition would not lead to an award to any other source. This acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition procedures and is exempt from the requirement of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Part 6.302-1, Competition Requirements. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) applicable to this requirement is 541990. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract is solely within the discretion of the Government.
