The National Instituttes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), Cancer Care Redesign (CaRe) plans to enter into a sole source contract with Harvard University Medical School, 643 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02115 for a preliminary review of information available about barriers to ideal care and "best practices". The North American Industry Classification System Code is 541690 and the business size standard is $6M. The focus of the Cancer Care Redesign (CaRe) is to provide reliable translation of research evidence into current practice. Studies have proven that many patients throughout the country do not receive optimal cancer care. The Department of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School, Cancer Care in Massachusetts (CAMA) has conducted a year long inventigation into patient and physician reports of quality barriers in cancer care in Massachusetts. Through a series of five patient focus groups and interviews with over 25 oncologists across the state, the CAMA project has identified gaps in the quality of cancer care and has developed pilot projects to test innovative solutions. Harvard University Medical School, has a program entitled "Improving Cancer Care in Massachusetts" (CAMA) in an effort to improve cancer treatment in the state of Massachusetts. CAMA goals and strategies include: 1)identifying barriers to high quality care; 2) developing systems for more efficient and timely data on cancer care quality and 3) providing better information to physicians and patients. Harvard University principle investigator(s) of CAMA are the only source known with the unique qualifications for the task required by the NCI.
