Description
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) invites voluntary participation from sources that offer bottle-screening devices to support a laboratory and field trial. The TSA is interested in evaluating market-ready bottle-screening devices capable of detecting and distinguishing explosive and flammable liquids from benign liquids in common bottles. A Bottle Screening Device (BSD) specification is available upon request to qualified vendors. The device will be expected to function on full or partially full bottles of any shape and color; made from glass, plastic, paper, and other materials which might typically be found in the marketplace. Respondents must provide at least two identical devices, an operations manual, a calibration aid (if applicable), set-up, training and maintenance for laboratory testing, and field trials with an estimated duration not to exceed 6 months at no cost to the TSA. To request a copy of the BSD specification, respondents must provide product literature describing device, picture, principle of detection, analysis time, size, weight, power requirements, unit cost, point of contact information, bottle size and type limitations and sampling method. This should not exceed 10 pages. Respondents must certify that their device complies with UL or equivalent EN safety standards and must substantiate safety of use on volatile explosives and flammable liquids. Point of Contact is Mr. Mike Versage (609) 813-2735 Mike.Versage@dhs.gov or Mr. Tom Tessitore (609) 485-4166. This action supports contingency objectives only; this synopsis is not a request for proposal and in no way binds the Government to award a contract at this time or in the future.
