- Description
- THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY. THERE IS NO SOLICITATION PACKAGE AVAILABLE. The Naval Air Warfare Center Lakehurst is requesting information pertaining to the replacement for the MMG-1A shipboard frequency converter. For the purposes of this RFI, this new unit shall be called the MMG-1X. The Government is requesting information on the availability of a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS), reliable, trailer-mounted, modular solid state power unit to be utilized at Navy ship and shore facilities. For the purposes of this RFI, the MMG-1X shall utilize state-of-the-art technology. It shall have dimensions equal to or less than the existing MMG-1A (93.5 in. L, 50.0 in. W, 42.0 in. H). The weight of the MMG-1X shall be minimized. As required for any typical Navy support equipment, the MMG-1X shall be highly reliable, maintainable, and supportable. As a shipboard unit, it shall be capable of meeting shock, vibration, environmental, EMI, and mobility criteria. The MMG-1X shall utilize land and shipboard (440 VAC, three phase, 60 HZ) power for its input source. It shall be capable of multiple outputs (90-120 KVA, 115 VAC, three phase, 400 HZ; 28 VDC; 270 VDC). The solid state frequency converter shall be modular, self-contained, on a ruggedized four wheeled trailer. The MMG-1X shall be capable of built in test (BIT), including (but not limited to) under/over voltage, current, and frequency protection. It shall have advanced self diagnostic capability to assist the maintainer in troubleshooting. Human factors engineering shall be utilized to the greatest extent possible to make the MMG-1X a ?user friendly? piece of support equipment. Please provide commercial pamphlets, operating and maintenance manual or any other documentation or descriptive literature that would describe a unit/s or system/s to meet one or both of the above requirements. It is requested that information be submitted NO LATER THAN 16 September 2004 to Ms. Lori Bishop, Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Code 25221B562-1, Highway 547, Lakehurst, NJ 08733-5082, or by electronic mail at: lori.bishop@navy.mil. Ms. Bishop may be reached at (732) 323-4771 or fax (732) 323-2359, or to Mr. Jack Murtagh, by electronic mail at: john.murtagh@navy.mil , who may be reached at (732) 323-2901 or fax (732) 323-2901. An Industry Day is being tentatively scheduled for 23 September 2004 in Patuxent River, MD. More information about the Industry Day will be available upon written request to Ms. Bishop or Mr. Murtagh. Respondents are notified that a formal solicitation MAY NOT necessarily result from the RFI. Any comments provided may or may not be included in a formal solicitation. The Government WILL NOT PAY for any information received in response to this RFI nor will the Government compensate any respondent with costs incurred in developing the information provided to the Government. The Government will not release any information marked with a Proprietary legend, received in response to this RFI, to any firms, agencies, or individuals outside the Government without written permission in accordance with the legend.
