Description

This amendment modifies a sources sought synopsis (W911QX-RFI-04-0001) previously published on 29 Jul 04 and amended on 11 Aug 04. The Army is looking to reduce/minimize the number of power source types and configurations. Concepts that combine fun ction within the current Army's standard battery configurations are desirable. Legacy equipment requires individual power sources that are usually sealed within a battery box. Power source changes to theses systems would also require consideration of the b attery box in a new design as the battery box would still be a part of the equipment configuration. Additional specifications: Peak current requirements; the power ranges are based upon a 16V nominal system. The low power, receive mode is nominally 8W-12 W with peaks of 16W- 20W. Duty cycles vary, but a 9 minute to 1 minute receive/transmit mode is typically used over 72 hours operation. Battery weight/dimension requirements; the current soldier system power source is set not to exceed two, two pound bat teries (0.61 liters volume each) for 24 hours. Future looking for similar weight/size to last 72 hours. Desired charger to handle minimum of three 150 - 160Wh batteries and charge all batteries in 2 hours or less. Weight for a 250W system to be less than 10 kg, dimensions not specified, smallest profile desirable.
