- Description
- Specifications to upgrade existing Lucker Model M Proof Tester 200,000 LBS capacity, S/N 6145 B, located at Shore Intermediate Maintenance Activity, 120 Coral Sea Road, onboard Naval Station Ingleside, TX 78362. The machine is composed of a power unit, a main bed section which contains the hydraulic cylinders and powered crosshead assembly. The electrical schematic is detailed in Amhoist (Model ?M? electrical sch.) Dwg # 1461014. The hydraulic schematic is detailed in Amhoist (Model ?M? hydraulic sch.) Dwg # 1461042. Load monitor system is standard. Power unit is Length 41? width 32? and height 81?. Main bed length is 20? width 60? and height 36?. Unit capacity is 200,000 lbs. Hydraulic reservoir capacity 5 gallons. Motor (3) hp. Connection (480) v. (3) ph. (60) hz. Hydraulic cylinders: bore (5?) stroke (48?) Rod Dia. (2 ? ?). Load Recorder circular chart. Grip crosshead & cable grip. Bedway guards are manual w/ interlock. Cable grip size is 99. Liner wedge size is 2 ?. It pulls slings to weight 0-200,000 lbs and holds it for specified lengths of time then the tension is released. There are no restrictive environmental conditions. Used to pull test boat and minesweeping slings, wire pendants and perform pull tests. Current main bed to be retained and have the control panel upgraded to digital, and a hydraulic grip added. The old controller taken out and have new one installed that reads digital. Computer or software that is connected or can be connected to the machine to track the readings during pull tests. The new equipment must interface and be compatible with our current Model M Proof Tester. The Testing Instrument shall include an active control mode to protect against excessive load being applied to the test specimen during loading into grips or fixtures prior to starting the test. This mode shall function at the stated load weighing system accuracy and include an automatic turn-off at the start of a test. The Testing Instrument shall provide automatic recognition and automatic calibration of transducers (load cells and extensometers). The system shall have critical functions handled by a dedicated controller independent of PC. Then sensor conditioners, digital control and data acquisition electronics must be located outside the PC chassis to reduce exposure to electrical noise from the PC?s internal power supplies and boards. Each sensor conditioner shall have the capability to detect cable faults and signal loss for operator and system safety. The conditioners must be capable of detecting disconnection of the transducer and must prohibit the operator from attempting to use that conditioner for control. Sensor Conditioners that utilize plug in range cards are not acceptable. Each signal conditioner shall use AC excitation to reduce noise. The System shall include self-test diagnostics with an external display for hardware and communication status. LOAD FRAME: The System shall include a test control panel for start, stop, return, jog, fine jog, and specimen protect functions. The panel shall also include at least two programmable keys for load balance, strain balance, exclude specimen, and other functions. The load frame column covers shall have at lease two t-slots each to allow for attachment of accessories such as a protection shield, test area lighting, extensometers, control panels, etc. The electromechanical loading unit shall employ a no-clutch design for better reliability, less maintenance, and improved load/speed performance. The System shall have auto-switch to frame standby mode to ensure safety if PC is shut down accidentally, power is lost, or the PC fails A digital controller shall provide at least 500 hz of digital closed-loop control for crosshead motion. The load frame shall have a symmetrical drive system to eliminate differences in lead screw phase that results in tilting on the crosshead. DATA HANDLING: The System shall sample load, strain and position data a minimum of 40 kHz and save data at up to 500 Hz simultaneous on all channels. The system shall be capable of storing an unlimited number of data sets per test. Each data set shall include load, stress, strain, extension, time and average strain. Automatic and user selectable data acquisition modes shall be provided. The System shall allow the user to choose data logging at fixed time intervals or incremental data logging based on a combination of load, position and strain intervals. The system shall allow storage of test sample data in individual files to minimizing data loss in the event of file corruption. The load measurement accuracy shall be +/- 0.5% or reading down to 1/250th (0.002%) of the load cell capacity according to the latest ASTM E4 standard method. Load system resolution shall be constant over the full range of the load cell. DATA DISPLAY: The system shall provide up to four, live numerical data displays with selectable engineering units. The user shall be able to change the selection of display variables during a test. Data available for display shall include load, stress, strain, extension, time, cycle count, average strain, differential strain, and strain from extension. The Testing System shall provide up to four selectable analog data displays in addition to the numerical displays. The analog displays shall be independently scaleable and shall include current value, event value, and limit values for each channel. The System shall provide a real-time graph of test data. The user shall be able to change the graph axes and select data channels during the test. The System shall display multiple graph curves and multiple results data simultaneously. This shall be a sole source unresticted basis negotiated solicitation with Instron Corporation, 100 Royall Street, Canton, MA 02021-1089. The 5500 Servo Control extend upgrade system with accessories will be used to complete the upgrade.
