Description
This is an amendment to the combined synopsis/solicitation posted on July 30, 2004 for a Radio Frequency Identification Scan Tunnel, SSA-RFQ-04-0536. Vendors are asked to remember that this is a test pilot for SSA. The purpose of this amendment is to 1) Extend the deadline to accept quotes until COB on Tuesday July 17, 2004 and 2) provide vendors with information that was requested by interested parties: ? The pilot activity is to evaluate the value-added functionality of the RFID technology within SSA?s warehousing operation.? The RFID Scan Tunnel must interface with Radio Beacon Warehouse Management Control System. For specific information concerning Radio Beacon, contact www.radiobeacon.com ? Refer to FAR 52-212.1 ? Instructions to Offerors, for guidance and instructions on how to respond. Please remember that sufficient information must be provided to evaluate your quote and all representations and certifications must be completed. Technical response should not include pricing. ? Reference the original combined synopsis/solicitation for information regarding existing experience and past performance. ? It is the contractor?s responsibility to develop the appropriate hardware solution to meet SSA?s requirements. ? It is the Governments expectation that the solution provider identify the proper solution to read 45 boxes on a pallet using the scan tunnel at the fastest, most accurate rate as possible. ? Integration will be preformed in Real-time via seamless integration directly to Radio Beacon. ? The government?s expectation is 100% readability. ? Due to the simplicity of the order, SSA does not feel site visits are necessary. ? In terms of suppliers, this pilot is a closed loop solution and SSA will expand to suppliers as necessary. ? There are no potential sources of RF interference. ? Cases are serialized using SSCC codes and Radio Beacon supports case serialization. ? There is no current or future process diagram available. ? External sensors are required because SSA needs to know the correct movement of stock, in or out of the warehouse. Sensors provide the most effective and accurate solution to determine the travel direction. ? The use of the term intelligent tag refers to a smart tag with read/write capabilities that meet the UHF G2 standard. ? Data will be written to the tag as well as being printed on the label. ? 96 BITS of data will need to be written to the tag to support the required information. ? There is a memory requirement for the tag. ? Information on the tags will be erased and rewritten several times. ? There is a requirement that there be a tag on pallets. ? The system must support UHG G2 standard. The system will not support EPCGlobal standards. ISO standards for 915 MHz will be supported. RESPONSE DATE: Responses must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, August 17, 2004, emailed to Kathleen.Cooney@ssa.gov OR addressed to the Social Security Administration, Office of Acquisition and Grants, Attn: Katie Cooney, 1710 Gwynn Oak Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland, 21207, OR faxed to (410) 965-9248. All responsible small business sources may submit a quotation that shall be considered by the Agency. Quotations submitted from other than small businesses will be rejected.
