- Description
- The Defense Distribution Depot Puget Sound, WA located at Bremerton Naval Station, Washington has a requirement for a Conveyor Replacement Project. The contractor shall provide all services, labor, material, equipment, engineering, and programming necessary to install, test, and properly/reliably operate a totally functional and fully operational new DDPW Building 467 1st and 6th Floor Conveyor Replacement System that adequately satisfies all requirements of this project?s statement of work. The following is a summary of the major requirements that must be accomplished by the Contractor in order to successfully complete this new DDPW-467 1st and 6th Floor Conveyor Replacement Project: (a) Remove and properly dispose of in accordance with BNC Environmental and Safety Requirements all portions of existing 1st and 6th floor conveyors that are no longer wanted by DDPW On-Site Government POC. (b) Provide and properly install new 1st conveyor systems including building-length ceiling-hung (see item c below) mainline conveyor (including new South VTC take-away and North VTC feed conveyors), new automated sortation system (see item d below), new re-circulation/receiving by-pass segment (including 45 degree diverter and merge), new receiving area conveyor (see item e below), and 5 fire-door conveyor drop-away gates. (c) Have design and final inspection of ceiling-hung 1st floor conveyor certified to be safe and acceptable in accordance with best engineering standards and practices by structural Profession Engineer registered in WA. (d) Provide and properly install new sortation system including 45 degree diverter, spiral declining conveyor belt, 3 two-way diverters, 6 off-load spurs, and re-use/incorporation of 4 existing packing/shipping workstations. (e) Provide and properly install new receiving area conveyor including declining belts, floor-mounted horizontal conveyor, inclining belts, and re-use/incorporation of existing 5 receiving workstations. (f) Provide and install new 6th floor conveyor system including building-length floor-mounted mainline, 4 two-way diverters, 8 off-load spurs, 3 fork-truck gates, 3 personnel gates, and 3 fire-door conveyor drop-away gates. (g) Provide and properly install any required new control system hardware or software/programming necessary (such as, but not limited to, 3-5 required new added in-line barcode scanners) and modify as necessary the existing (2 year old) building-wide conveyor control system to properly operate the new 1st and 6th floor conveyor systems. (h) Ensure necessary control system modifications (see item g above) also continue to allow proper operation of the existing (2 years old) North and South VTCs, 5th and 3rd floor conveyor systems, and with ECS/DSS to provide completed DDPW-467 building-wide conveyor system with overall capability required to allow warehouse workers to effectively perform automated material handling operations necessary to successfully accomplish their mission. (i) Ensure new 1st and 6th floor conveyor systems meet all required safety and fire protection regulations. (j) Provide operator/maintenance training and all required supporting documentation on new conveyor system. (k) Demonstrate proper/reliable operation of new 1st and 6th floor conveyor system and modified control system (including operation with ECS/DSS and re-used existing (2 year old) conveyor system) during acceptance testing. (l) Complete project installation, testing, and final acceptance in not more than 180 calendar days from award. (m) Provide one year warranty on the DDPW-467 1st and 6th Floor Conveyor Replacement Project. Contract award will be made using Best Value Procedures A pre-proposal conference/site visit will be scheduled 7 to 14 days following the issue date of the Request for Proposal. The elctronic request for solicitation package will be available on-line for release to the general public on or about July 2, 2004. To receive an award resulting from this solicitation, contractors MUST be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database. Registeration is available via the Internet at www.ccr.gov. This solcitation will be posted to FED BIZ OPPS at www.eps.gov.
