Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), National Acquisition Center and the Nutrition & Food Service Standardization Committee are requesting major food service manufacturers to provide information on Advanced Food Delivery System (ADS) equipment and Blast Chillers (NO commissary production equipment; i.e. cook tanks, pump & fill stations, tumble chillers, etc.). Manufacturers are asked to provide written information and specifications on their equipment and make a presentation on their product lines and service to the Standardization Group. The presentation and question period will not exceed 90 minutes per vendor and will be held at the VA National Acquisition Center in Hines, IL September 14-16, 2004. Information provided will be used to create a purchase template for aggregated VA ADS and blast chiller equipment needs. Approximately 70 of the 158 VA Healthcare facilities have some type of ADS equipment and/or blast chillers. Other VA facilities are in the planning process to update their production/service systems. This information is being gathered for new systems and replacement systems or pieces. The process developed from these presentations will help streamline and maximize volume purchasing for the VA. Pre-registration for this conference is required and is planned for September 14th afternoon only, September 15th all day, and September 16th morning only. Please contact Jeanne Myscofski to register and if you have any questions concerning the information and/or presentation being requested. Only primary manufacturers of ADS and blast chiller equipment will be scheduled to present information. Distributors/brokers will not be considered for presentations. These meetings are for information gathering only and are NOT part of a solicitation. If and when an RFP is developed, all vendors will have an opportunity to bid. Presentations should cover the following issues: Specific system types; requirements and options, life expectancy, warranties, replacement parts, future upgrades/developments in progress. Specific major equipment components; construction, electrical requirements, monitoring system, life expectancy, warranties, replacement parts, future upgrades/developments in progress. Ancillary equipment (trays, trayware); design requirements, proprietary products, reusable, disposable, life expectancy, replacement sources, future developments in progress. Details on: Initial site visit, Implementation Process, Timelines for process, Customer Support; pre, during implementation, post installation. Training materials and classes, Use of installation companies, Authorized repair companies. Contact Jeanne Myscofski, VA National Acquisition Center, Hines, IL 60141, 708-786-5231 or email jeanne.myscofski2@med.va.gov. Directions to Conference: VA National Acquisition Center, First Avenue, One Block North of Cermak Road, Hines, IL 60141 The NAC is located in Building 37 on the Edward Hines, Jr., VA Hospital complex at Hines, Illinois. Hines is not a town, but a federal reservation (Post Office) so you may not find it on a map but it is adjacent to Maywood and Brookfield, Illinois. The complex is located approximately 11 miles west of the Chicago Loop. The most direct route to the NAC is via the Eisenhower Expressway (Route 290) to 1st Avenue (South). Go south on 1st Avenue approximately 6-1/2 blocks (three stoplights) and turn right at the gate just past the flagpoles. From O'Hare Airport, take Route 294 south to the Eisenhower Expressway (Chicago) to First Avenue (South). Limited parking is in front of the building along 1st Avenue. The main entrance is across from the flag pole. There is security at the door that will check your registration, have you sign in, and direct you to the meeting room.
