- Description
- The Naval Air Systems Command intends to award a contract in FY05 based on full and open competition to replace the AN/AIC-22 Intercommunication System (ICS) currently installed on some P-3 aircraft. The ICS provides intercommunication functions for crewmembers, operates jointly with the communication-switching matrix and secure-switching matrix, and provides the capability for crewmembers to select VHF, UHF and HF radios. The current AN/AIC-22 installed on the P-3 aircraft has reached the end of its useful service life. The AN/AIC-22 ICS is obsolete, possesses low reliability and is labor-intensive to sustain. To address these issues, the U.S. Navy desires to replace the AN/AIC-22 with an improved reliability ICS using Commercial and/or Non-Developmental Items. The replacement ICS shall have, as a minimum, functionality and performance equal to the existing AIC-22 ICS. The scope of effort shall include the necessary engineering tasks, technical data and logistics to support the integration, test and installation of the replacement ICS into each applicable P-3 type model series aircraft configuration, as well as the procurement of production ICS for installation on fleet aircraft. It is contemplated that a Fixed Price Indefinite Delivery / Indefinite Quantity contract with a base year and four one-year options will be awarded for three trial kits and installations and 49 production kits, as well as engineering and logistics support services. It is expected that a draft Statement of Objectives and Performance Specification will be posted on the NAVAIR Doing Business WEB site at www.navair.navy.mil/doing_business within 30 days of this publishing.
