Description

This notice is for informational purposes only. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to issue a sole source purchase order for an ongoing study on HIV Resistance Testing of Plasma and Breast Milk Samples from Pregnant Women Who Have or Have not Received Prior Single Dose Nevirapine to a Guest Researcher at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institution, Ross Building 646, 720 Rutland Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21205. Dr. Susan Eshleman serves as Director of the both the Johns Hopkins Univ. (JHU) ACTG Virology Service Laboratory and the Virology Core of the HPTN Central Laboratory. She is a Board-Certified Clinical Pathologist, and the JHU HIV Genotyping Laboratory is CLIA-certified. She is the world expert on NVP in the setting of PMTCT, and on drug resistance in HIV subtypes A and D from Uganda. This unique expertise is based on the original resistance analysis of the HIVNET 012 specimens which Dr. Eshleman carried out. This procurement will be processed under the authority of FAR6.302-1. Only one responsible source and no other vendor will satisfy agency requirements. The proposed contract action is for supplies which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. This is procurement is not set-aside for small business.
