Description

The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), Headquarters Procurement Division intends to modify the Modular Integrated Communications Helmet (MICH) Communications contract USZA22-00-D-0005 and negotiate on a sole source basis with Mine Safety Appliances Company (MSA), DBA Safety Products Division, 3880 Meadowbrook Road, Murrysville, Pennsylvania 15668, for safety labels in accordance with 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1: ?Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.? MSA is the manufacturer of the MICH communication components. The labels are unique to MSA?s headsets and cables; therefore, are only available through MSA. The following items will be acquired in accordance with FAR 12: ?Acquisition of Commercial Items:? Label, Brown, Square, Radio Cables - P/N 10000018989; Label, Light Brown, Circle, Intercom Cable - P/N 10000018990; Label, Green, Triangle, Headset Cable - P/N 10000018988; Label, Color Key, PTT Box, Dual COMM - P/N 10000018987; Label, Warning, MICH High Noise HDST - P/N 10000019942-1; Label, Warning, MICH Low Noise HDST - P/N 10000019942-2; Label, Battery Replacement Log, PTT Box - P/N 10000020027. The labels are being acquired to meet a US Army Safety of Use and US Army Developmental Command requirement. The labels will be attached to components of the MICH communications equipment to properly signal to the user how cables are to be connected and provide safety warnings. The estimated quantity is dependant on MICH items to be procured through September 2005 under contract USZA22-00-D-0005. The total estimated value is $55,000.00. No competitive solicitation will be issued for this effort.
