Description

The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) proposes to negotiate on a sole source basis contract under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) with the University of Colorado for research support on Microclock Cell Fabrication. The staff at the University of Colorado is currently working on this ongoing project to develop microfabricated atomic frequency references. At the heart of these frequency references are vapor cells that contain the atoms that provide the intrinsic stability of the device. Fabrication of the vapor cells is an essential part of the research and it is critical the project proceeds. The contract period is September 1, 2004 through September 1, 2005. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (NTE $100K). This synopsis is issued for information only. No competitive solicitation is planned.
