Description
This project provides mechanical reduction of hazardous wood fuels for the prevention and control of fires. The project is variable in tree stand structure (height, diameter, species composition and number per acre) due to numerous natural disturbances and topography. As a result, types of work situations encountered wil differ. Dead, hazardous, downed or leaning trees of any Diameter Breast High will be removed from the designated areas. This project is to be completed by using hand labor, allowing for the cutting of under story brush and shubbery by the use of limb loppers, hand pruners, rotary brush cutters and chainsaws for all cutting operations. Privet must be pulled to remove the root systems. Pulling of privet may be performed by hand or by mechanical methods approved by the Contracting Officers Technical Representative. Grubbing (digging out) will not be allowed. Motorized equipment is prohibited, other than the use of four-wheel drive vehicles or all-terrain vehicles (ATV).
