- Description
- This solicitation will be made available for download from the FedBizOpps (check one): YES Text: The Pacific Marine Environmental Lab intends to procure for a submersible, Remotely Operated Platform for Ocean Science (ROPOS), to perform dives over a sixteen day period beginning in September of 2004 and continuing into October of 2004. The ROPOS shall be self sufficient with all necessary equipment for operation, including a range of spare parts and capable of a 24 hour operating schedule. The ROPOS must be capable of operating to a depth of 5000 m. The ROPOS shall be used to conduct biological/chemical sampling and other manipulations with two operating manipulators, at least one being a seven function manipulator, perform near-bottom mapping with an Imagnex or equivalent scanning sonar, deploy and recover instruments, and provide optical images of the seafloor sites using high resolution video (RGB or better) and digital color still images at five (5) megapixels or better. In order to interface the scientific instrumentation, the following functions are required: 1) STS multiplexes up to seven, 9600 baud, bi-directional user RS-232 channels; independent of vehicle telemetry, and 2) external juntion box must provide 24 VDC, +/- 12 VDC and 5 VDC to the user interface as well as access to the RS-232 ports.
