Description
This is an inventory vegetation requirement for the Dubois, Ashton-Island Park, and Montpelier Ranger Districts, Caribou-Targhee National Forest, Fremont & Bear Lake Counties, Idaho. Performs timber stand exam collections. It is estimated to cover 8884 acres with 1509 sample plots using the new Common Stand Exam Protocols. Work will consist of locating, establishing, measuring, and recording data for sample plots. The Brown's Protocol will be used to collect data for the Down Woody form. Vegetation types vary: sagebrush, mountain brush, grass/forb, maple and mountain mahogany, aspen, lodgepole, Douglas-fir, subalpine fir and spruce fir. The Dubois Ranger District has access available on Road 323 and 200 with a walk in of approximately 2-3 miles. Ashton-Island Park Ranger District has readily accessible access along 4-wheel drive roads and gated, closed roads. Most stands are within a 1 mile walk of the roads. Montpelier Ranger District stands are generalized as easy access with most within a quarter mile of a road or motorized trail and no stands are more than a 1 mile walk. For the Caribou-Targhee in general most roads are accessible between the months of June - October. A 4-wheel drive, high clearance vehicle is recommended. The number of sample plots have been predetermined and assigned a GPS coordinate. A GPS unit is required. Performance period will be 120 calendar days. Work is estimated to start September 15, 2004. Quotes shall be due at 3:00 pm MST, September 7, 2004. The estimated price range is $25,000 to $100,000. Soliciation will be available approximately by August 6, 2004 and can be down loaded at this time. All responsible vendors shall be registered in the Central Contractoar Registration database.
