Description
This is a pre-solicitation notice issued by the Architect of the Capitol to fabricate, deliver and install Architectural Models for the United States Capitol Visitor Center, Washingon, D. C. Seven architectural models for the exhibition gallery are being requested in this package. The largest and most prominent of the models is a 10-ft. tall, half-circle model of the Capitol dome, with an interior cut-away on the backside showing the interior architecture of the dome. The remaining six models, each of equal size, show the area of Capitol square at six different historic periods, from 1800 to the present. These models will include the Capitol as well as surrounding buildings within the specifically defined boundary lines. All models must be historically and architecturally accurate to the detail specified in the description of each model. Material used in the construction of the models can be suggested by the Contractor, but the large Dome model will be touchable and so must be able to withstand touching by large numbers of visitors with minimal cleaning and maintenance. The six smaller models, because they will include landscaping features, will be under Plexiglas bonnets, which will be constructed by the Contractor to fit the bases being built by the exhibit fabricator. Potential offerors are required to have at least 10 years of experience in the production of historic architectural models of like complexity as those described in the request for proposals. The solicitation will be issued on or about 5 August 2004. Requests for the solicitation package should be addressed to the attention of Rudy Philiposian, Procurement Analyst, email: rphilipo@aoc.gov, fax: 202-228-2073. NOTE: Please include your company name, address, point of contact, phone and fax number, and email address in your request for the solicitation package.
