Description

The purpose of this Sources Sought/Market Survey of industry is to identify production sources for the Hand Grenade, Riot, CS M7A3, NSN 1330-00-965-0802. The M7A3 grenade is used to control counter-insurgencies and for other tactical missions. It i s a burning type riot control grenade and may be used to simulate casualty agents during training. The M7A3 is a CS filled burning type grenade used to control counterinsurgencies and other tactical missions. The CS agent is emitted between 15 and 35 sec onds during which time incapacitation is onset. The duration of incapacitation is about 10 minutes after personnel are removed to fresh air. The grenade with the M201A1 fuze is 5.7 inches long and weighs 15.5 ounces. The sheet metal body, the same used on the M18 grenade, is 4.65 inches long and has a diameter of 2.5 inches. A fill made of 7.35 oz. burning fuel mixture and 4.5 oz. of sugar coated ortho chlorolbenzalmalonitrile (CS) pellets is then pressed into the body. A starter mix is added to the top of the fill. The M201A1 fuze is a pyrotechnic delay-igniting fuze. Delay time is between 0.7 ?????? 2 seconds. The fuze body contains a primer (M39A1), first-fire mixture pyrotechnic delay column and ignition mixture. Assembled to the fuze body are a stri ker, striker spring, safety lever and safety pin with a pull ring. The grenade body is painted gray with red band and the fuze is painted gray or olive drab with black marking. Since the sheet metal body and the M201A1 fuze are common to other munitions and are available under separate Government contracts , the Government is considering the possibility of making them available as Government Furnished Material (GFM). The CS pellets may also be acquired by the Government and provided as GFM. Any input in regard to these items or any portion of these components being provided as GFM is also requested. Estimated quantity is 58,200 each M7A3 Hand Grenade, Riot CS. A respondent to this market survey must have available a majority of the skills and facilitie s that are required to manufacture the M7A3 Hand Grenade, Riot CS. If a respondent does not have adequate resources (technical, manufacturing, personnel, etc) available, the respondent must be able to demonstrate his ability to obtain those resources in a timely fashion. Interested companies who feel they possess the necessary capabilities should respond by providing the Government the following information; A brief summary of the company's capabilities, description of facilities, personnel and related ma nufacturing experience; estimated minimum and maximum monthly production quantities, the associated prices and the maximum procurement quantity required for production. If a respondent chooses to utilize the services of sub-tier vendors or subcontractors, those vendors or subcontractors must meet these criteria. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this market survey or otherwise pay for information solicited.
