Description
Synopsis - - The Federal Bureau of Prisons, Field Acquisition Office, Grand Prairie, Texas, intends to issue IFB-40020-0072 for the project entitled Repair Water Towers at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Pekin, Illinois. The Contracting Officer anticipates awarding a firm-fixed price contract. The successful contractor will be required to perform the following on two 250,000 gallon water towers located on the North end of the Satellite Camp (outside the secured fence): install a passive type cathodic protection system on the interior of each tower to prevent future corrosion; seal weld all seams in the interior of both the North and South tower; sandblast all rustic and abraded areas on the interior of the tank to an SSPC (Society for Protective Coatings) #10 (near white); brush blast all remaining interior areas to achieve an anchoring pattern for the epoxy to bond; strip coat all welded seams, then apply an epoxy coating 8 to 10 mills dry film thickness; remove old vent and replace with new 24" frost proof vent; install a 6" diameter saucer overlay at the top of the interior stem ladder to prevent water from entering interior dry portions of the tank that caused corrosion; and perform a complete inspection of both towers once all of the work is finished. The magnitude of this project is between $100,000 and $250,000. The solicitation will be available on/about August 2, 2004 and will be distributed solely through the General Services Administration Federal Business Opportunities website at www.fedbizopps.gov.
