Description
THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE, NAVAL EXPLOSIVE ORDNANCE DISPOSAL TECHNOLOGY DIVISION (NAVEODTECHDIV) IS REQUESTING INFORMATION FROM VENDORS AND MANUFACTURERS OF A DEMOLITION BLASTING MACHINE THAT CAN INITIATE STANDARD M6 ELECTRIC BLASTING CAPS OR EQUIVALENT, .50 CALIBER ELECTRIC BLANK CARTRIDGES, VARIOUS MILITARY- APPROVED SQUIBS, AND NONELECTRIC SHOCK TUBE, TO INCLUDE MODERN DEMOLITION INITIATORS (MDI). DESCRIPTIVE LITERATURE SHOULD INCLUDE PRODUCT DATA SHEETS, PRODUCT QUALITY, RELIABILITY, COMPANY POINT OF CONTACT, AND PRICING INFORMATION. DESIRED SYSTEM PARAMETERS: 1) POWER OUTPUT OF AT LEAST 4 JOULES OR CAPABLE OF INITIATING 50 M6 BLASTING CAPS WHEN PLACED IN A SERIES CIRCUIT. THE M6 ELECTRIC BLASTING CAP REQUIRES 1.5 AMPERES TO FIRE WITH A RESISTANCE OF 2 OHMS; 2) MUST BE CAPABLE OF INITIATING SHOCK TUBE OF 0.118" OUTER DIAMETER; 3) IF POWER IS SELF GENERATED, THE MECHANISM U SED TO GENERATE THE POWER SHALL NOT REQUIRE LESS THAN FIVE POUNDS OR MORE THAN FIFTEEN POUNDS OF FORCE. IF POWER IS SUPPLIED BY BATTERY OR BATTERIES, THE BATTERY OR BATTERIES SHALL BE OPERATOR REPLACEABLE, INTERNAL TO THE BLASTING MACHINE, AND READILY AVAILABLE IN THE COMMERCIAL MARKETPLACE AND SHALL BE A, AA, AAA, 9-VOLT, C, OR D SIZE; 4) SHALL NOT WEIGH MORE THAN ONE POUND SEVEN OUNCES; 5) SHALL NOT EXCEED A SIX INCHES WIDE BY SEVEN INCHES LONG BY THREE INCH DEEP PHYSICAL ENVELOPE; 6) SHALL BE EQUIPPED WITH A TESTING DEVICE THAT WILL INDICATE OPERATIONAL READINESS. AN INTEGRAL OR SEPARATE TESTING DEVICE IS ACCEPTABLE. THE DATA COLLECTED FROM THIS MARKET RESEARCH EFFORT WILL BE UTILIZED TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE ABILITY OF COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE ITEMS TO MEET PROJECTED NEEDS. DESIRED SYSTEM PARAMETERS DO NOT NECESSARILY REPRESENT THE MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE CAPABILITIES. THIS A NNOUNCEMENT SERVES TO SURVEY PRODUCT AVAILABILITY AND IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. THIS SYNOPSIS IS FOR INFORMATION AND PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY AND IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT. INTERESTED PARTIES ARE ENCOURAGED TO RESPOND BY PROVIDING THEIR COMPANY NAME, POINTS OF CONTACT, AND BUSINESS SIZE. INFORMATION SUBMITTED SHOULD DESCRIBE THE CONTRACTOR'S CAPABILITY AND/OR PAST EXPERIENCE IN PERFORMING THE DESCRIBED SERVICES. THIS INFORMATION WILL BE USED TO DEVELOP A SOURCE OF POTENTIAL PROPOSERS FOR POSSIBLE FUTURE SOLICITATIONS.
