Description

Base Bid Item. Furnish all labor, material and equipment to design and build a new equipment storage building measuring 75' x 150', clear-span, pre-engineered, single slope roof, rigid metal frame. Design and construct the concrete building foundation, interior concrete floor slab, exterior concrete aprons, and exterior concrete splashpads. A portion of an existing concrete floor slab on the jobsite shall be incorporated into the new concrete floor slab, while the remainder of the concrete floor slab shall be demolished and removed to accommodate the new construction. The existing concrete floor slab measures 27' x 200' x 12". Evaluate the existing electrical service equipment and its service capacity and incorporate, as required, any modifications/rehabilitation/relocation to interface with the design and installation of new electrical service, new electrical distribution, lighting, and appurtenant equipment and items. The new building will be used for general equipment storage only and will not be heated or cooled. See detailed description of work in Specifications Section C, Para I, "Work Under This Contract." Additive Bid Item (if awarded). In lieu of incorporating a portion of the existing concrete floor slab into the new concrete floor slab, furnish all labor, material and equipment required to demolish and remove in its entirety, the existing reinforced concrete floor slab. The existing concrete slab measures approximately 27' x 200' x 12". As a minimum, place additional concrete and gravel base material to fill the void left by the complete removal of the existing floor slab in order to construct a full floor slab which extends the entire length and width of the interior of the new storage building. Since the entire existing floor slab is being demolished and removed, the requirement to mechanically tie the new floor slab to the existing floor slab is deleted. The performance period is: Phase A - Design, 30 days; Phase B - Government Conformance Review of Design, 30 days; Phase C - Construction, 60 days, for a total of 120 calendar days. Liquidated damages is $150/day. The magnitude of construction is between $250,000 and $500,000. 100% Performance and Payment Bonds will be required. A 20% Bid Bond will be required. The solicitation will be issued on or about 7/28/04 with a closing date of on or about 8/27/04. The solicitation will be available through the Governmentwide Point of Entry (GPE) (http://www.fedbizopps.gov). Please note that drawings and specifications will also be posted with the solicitation as .pdf files and will be available for download from the GPE. This acquisition is open to both large and small business. All responsible sources may submit an offer which will be considered.
