Description
This hereby amends this solicitation to address technical questions. QUESTION: Are there any requirements for cable length from the actuator to the controller? ANSWER: The cable should be at least 2 feet long. QUESTION: Are there any restrictions on the location on the actuator where the cable enters? ANSWER: Anywhere on the left-hand edge of the drawing. QUESTION: Are there any surface finish requirements? ANSWER: Anodization is preferred. QUESTION: What material should be used? ANSWER: Aluminum QUESTION: What is the allowable height for the actuator? ANSWER: More than 3" would be difficult to accommodate. QUESTION: What are your linearity, repeatability and hysteresis specifications? ANSWER: This is being used for optical spectroscopy, so with closed-loop motion control, linearity and hysteresis specifications are easily met. Of course, we will require a calibration curve for the output of the position indicator, good to within plus or minus 5 nm over the entire range of motion. QUESTION: Is there a specification for the small step settling time? ANSWER: Something on the order of a few milliseconds. QUESTION: Please provide a description of how this actuator will be used? Will it be used for static or dynamic positioning? ANSWER: Its primary intended use will be for static positioning. It is possible that it will be necessary to press it into service for dynamic positioning. If the dynamic positioning becomes necessary, we envision applying a triangle drive waveform with the high-frequency components filtered out. All other terms and conditions of this solicitation remain unchanged.
