- Description
- The Nutritional Epidemiology Branch (NEB), Division of Cancer Epidemiology (DCEG), National Cancer Institute (NCI), intends to modify contract N02-CP-11010 with Vanderbilt University, in Nashville, Tennessee to add a study to the current statement of work. A study in Physical Activity and its Components in Relation to Plasma Inflammatory Markers of Cancer Risk Among Chinese Adults will be added. This study is being conducted in Shanghai, China on a cohort of existing men and women. The contractor shall develop a comprehensive physical activity questionnaire that includes standardized questions about all types of physical activity; Assess the validity and reliability of this comprehensive physical activity questionnaire along with the baseline physical activity questionnaire; and evaluate whether types and parameters of physical activity are associated with circulating levels of specific inflammatory markers that have been linked to cancer risk, independent of body mass and other potentially confounding variables. This action is pursuant to 41 USC 253[c](1) and under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. Number 22 applies as follows: The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority 41 U.S.C.253 (c) (1), as set forth by FAR 6.302-1 (b) (1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within forty-five days (thirty days if award is issued under an existing basic ordering agreement) after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No collect calls will be accepted.
