Description
The Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico Virginia, has a need for a Commercial Non-Developmental, JP8 fueled, tactical wheeled vehicle which can meet two primary requirements: externally transportable underneath the MV-22 tilt-rotor aircraft (less than 10,000 lb curb weight); and the capability of towing the M777 LW155 Howitzer (tow capability greater than 10,000 lbs). Internal transport within the CH-53E is desired. A Request For Information (RFI) was released on 27 June 2003, a market survey was performed in September 2003, and a Capability Assessment was conducted from October 2003-May 2004. The results of these three events revealed that a domestic capability to meet the United States Marine Corps needs using a commercial non-developmental vehicle does not exist. The Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico Virginia intends to negotiate as part of a Foreign Comparative Test (FCT), with the following four companies: Automotive Technik, Guildford, Surrey GU2 8XW, United Kingdom; Supacat Limited, The Airfield, Dunkeswell Honiton EX14 ORA, England; Krauss-Maffei Wegmann, Krauss-Maffei-Strasse 11, D-80997, Munich, Germany; and MOWAG, Kreuzlingen, Switzerland. This effort will procure demonstration vehicles, test support, and logistics support from each vendor to enable a Foreign Comparative Test (FCT) to be conducted. Upon completion of the FCT, one vendor will be selected and production options may be exercised.
