Description
By way of the Pre-Solicitation Notice, The Chicago District Corps of Engineers announces its intentions to solicit proposals for its CADY MARSH DRAINAGE DITCH TUNNEL PROJECT, which consists of an approximately 6,440-foot long, 10-foot finished diamet er, concrete-lined tunnel; inlet structures, which include an approximately 51-foot long concrete side overflow weir, trash racks, 5-foot wide concrete inlet channel, and 20-foot inside diameter, concrete-lined inlet shaft; three 5-foot inside diameter int ermediate access shafts; outlet structures, which include a 20-foot inside diameter, concrete-lined outlet shaft with sump and two dewatering pumps, 32-foot long discharge weir and outlet discharge channel connecting to an existing discharge channel; chann el improvements to the existing Caddy Marsh Drainage Ditch; dewatering during construction; disposal of excavated material; geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring; all required surface restoration work; traffic maintenance and control; baseline and po st construction surveys and other incidental construction. The tunnel will be constructed mostly in clay that contains some sand/silt layers and boulders. The inlet, outlet, and intermediate access shafts will be constructed in similar soils. The tunnel is located in a residential and commercial area of Griffith, Indiana, along Arbogast Avenue. The tunnel crosses a major utility corridor and the Burr Street Levee. The NAICS Code for this procurement is 237990, with a business size of $28.5 Million. T his procurement will be unrestricted to business size. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers intends to award a firm-fixed-price contract. The Request for Proposals will be downloadable from the INTERNET ONLY. The project specification files are Portable Docume nt Format (PDF) files and can be viewed, navigated or printed using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Minimum system requirements are a 486 based personal computer, Microsoft Windows 3.1 or greater and 8 MB application RAM. Interested Offerors will be able to download the Request for Proposals from Internet Site http://www.lrl.usace.army.mil/ebs by clicking on the appropriate Solicitation Number. The solicitation will be available on the Internet on or about 27 July 2004. The due date for proposals will be on or about 3 September 2004 at 4:30 p.m. Chicago Local Time. Requests for Solicitations that are made by telephone, fax or email will not be honored.
