- Description
- The Sealift Support Program Office will conduct an Industry Day from February 11 though 12, 2003 at the Drexler Manor Conference Center on the Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base, Norfolk, Virginia. An introductory brief will be conducted on February 11, 2003, commencing at 0900. This brief will include background and specific requirements. The brief will be followed by a static display of a LARC V with fleet (operator) personnel present to address general questions. In addition, a beach demonstration is planned to demonstrate the craft's capabilities to enter/exit surf, pull out a stuck vehicle, etc (weather conditions permitting). Individual one-on-one 45-minute appointments with potential contractors to address questions regarding program requirements will be available. SSPO requests that contractors be prepared to present information regarding their company's capacity, capabilities and experience. The Conference Center will provide audio-visual equipment. Contractors are requested to provide the name of their company, organization and/or division group, specifying company status, i.e., hubzone, 8(a), small business, or large business, telephone number and e-mail address to Eric Hein at heinel@navfac.navy.mil or at (202) 685-6028. Due to the security requirements, pre-registration is required for base access. Contractor participation is limited to no more than 5 persons per company. Contract strategy has not yet been determined. Contract award is anticipated in the fourth quarter of FY03. The contract will consist of a base year and two Options years. The base year will consist of repairs and upgrades as described in the Statement of Work to quantity of one (1) unit. This unit will undergo operational testing and evaluation at the contractor?s expense to demonstrate compliance with performance and operational requirements. Upon successful completion of operational testing and evaluation, the Government intends to exercise options one and two for the repair and upgrade for fifteen (15) and forty-four (44) units respectively. The primary objectives of this SLEP is to: (1) improve the propulsion system by selecting and installing a new diesel engine and a hydrostatic transmission resulting in a water speed of 7 knots and a land speed of 30 mph,(2)improving the craft?s towing capability through redesign of the existing tow bitt and forward and aft welded padeyes to handle increased loads and (3) improving the craft's watertight integrity through installation of new engine compartment hatches and raised bulwark. The work will be performed in accordance with the Government furnished Statement of Work (SOW), Specifications and Drawings.
