Description

The Department of Labor, Mine Safety and Health Administration are seeking sources for a 4-hour breathing apparatus, brand name or equal to that is approved and used by the mine rescue community. We are requesting this instrument have the means for making 12 important tests before a team member can use the apparatus, using an RZ-25 tester and test kit. These tests include: (1) low pressure warning test, (2) inhalation valve test, (3) exhalation valve test, (4) drain valve test, (5) leak test with positive pressure, (6) relief valve test, (7) high pressure leak test, (8) constant monitoring valve test, (9) minimum valve test, (10) bypass valve test, (11) low pressure warning test (cylinder valve closed), and (12) battery test. The Biopak 240-S has a test kit that can only test the following: (1) high pressure leak test, (2) constant flow test, and (3) low pressure leak test.
