Description
NOTICE OF INTENT TO NEGOTIATE A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF MANCHESTER INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY (UMIST) FOR THE PACIFIC MARINE ENVIRONMENTAL LAB (PMEL). PURPOSE OF PROPOSED CONTRACT IS TO ARRANGE THE VENUE AND SERVICES FOR THE IGAC SPECIALITY CONFERENCE ON THE INDIRECT EFFECTS OF AEROSOLS ON CLIMATE. ALSO PRODUCE A SUMMARY REPORT OF THE CONFERENCE FOR THE IGAC-SSC. THE INTERNATIONAL GLOBAL ATMOSPHERIC CHEMISTRY (IGAC) PROGRAM CONDUCTS SPECIALTY CONFERENCES/WORKSHOPS ON VARIOUS ASPECTS OF ATMOSPHERIC CHEMISTRY TO PROMOTE INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH IN THESE AREAS. FUNDING TO PARTIALLY SUPPORT THIS CONFERENCE WAS SPECIFICALLY APPROPRIATED IN THE GRANT FROM NASA, NSF, AND NOAA TO PMEL FOR THE IGAC CORE PROJECT OFFICE. THE CONFERENCE WILL BRING TOGETHER APPROXIMATELY 150 SCIENTISTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD WHO ARE EXPERTS IN VARIOUS FIELDS INVOLVED IN THE AEROSOL INDIRECT EFFECT. THE CONFERENCE WILL TAKE PLACE IN MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM. THE PRESENTATIONS AND DICUSSIONS FROM THE CONFERENCE WILL BE SUMMARIZED IN A REPORT THAT WILL BE PREPARED BY CONFERENCE ORGANIZERS AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE CONFERENCE. THE REPORT WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE TO THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY ON THE IGAC WEB SITE AND WILL BE USED FOR THE PREPARATION OF CLIMATE CHANGE ASSESSMENTS AND TO OUTLINE FUTURE RESEARCH NEEDS. THIS IS A SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITION WITH AN ESTIMATED VALUE OF LESS THAN $50,000.
