- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT TO PURCHASE ON A SOLE SOURCE BASIS. HQINSCOM has a requirement for renewal of ??????VERITAS?????? annual software maintenance support for NetBackup DataCenter, Windows NT/2000, License Tier 2 - extended support, Library Based Tape Drive support, Clientv v4.5 maintenance pack 5 Tier 2 extende d support, SQL Server and Microsoft exchange server support. INSCOM intends to purchase, on a sole source basis, the items from VERITAS Software Global Corporation. VERITAS advises that they are the only known responsible source that can meet renewal ser vice requirements. The renewal of the annual maintenance agreement is required to continue receiving regular updates as new versions of the software are released, access to technical support, and new documentation as it is published. It would take substant ial duplication of time and money for another company to offer a similar product that would meet these requirements, and these costs are not expected to be recovered through competition. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 . Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort via email to tptrivi@inscom.army.mil no later than COB, 16:30 PM,. July 5, 2004. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
