- SCS SYSTEM DESCRIPTION - The SCS, Data System Designator (DSD) D035 is a joint Air Force (AF)/Marine Corps (MC) program managed by the Air Force, that provides Automated Data Processing (ADP) resources for Headquarters (HQ) operations and supporting Logistics Centers. It provides enhanced processing of stock control transactions and management information. The high-level functional areas contained in the SCS are asset management functions consisting of requisitioning, item technical data, inventory, due-in/receipts, materiel returns (excess), controlled items, depot support, disposal, reclamation, and miscellaneous supporting functions; distribution functions; and financial accounting functions. The evolution of the SCS has involved extensive software modernization, development, and integration. SCS consists of two architectures, which are called the SCS [Mainframe] and the SCS [Mid-tier]. The SCS [Mainframe] system consists of International Business Machines (IBM)-compatible mainframes using a Computer Associates (CA) DATACOM database, hosted at Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Defense Enterprise Computing Center (DECC) DISA DECC Ogden (OGD) and DISA DECC Saint Louis (-STL). SCS [Mainframe] consists of the legacy SCS application and its subsystems, identified by subsystem Data System Designators (DSDs) D035A, D035B, D035J, D035K, D035L, D035T and D035W. DSDs D035A, D035B, D035K, D035L, D035T and D035W have AFMC/LG as their functional customer. D035J has AFMC/FM as its functional customer. The SCS [Mainframe] has approximately 2,934,489 Lines of Code (LOC). The SCS [Mid-tier] system consists of Dell, NEC Express, Hewlett Packard (HP), and EMC Symmetrix servers hosted at DISA Defense Enterprise Computing Center ? Detachment (DECC-D) Dayton. SCS [Mid-tier] is implemented on a web-enabled, client-server architecture, using an Oracle database and a Windows NT or HP UNIX operating system (O/S). SCS [Mid-tier] consists of the modernized SCS application. SCS [Mid-tier] uses the World Wide Web and graphical interface technology to simplify data and application access on a global basis. Its primary functions are to provide current asset visibility, maintain balances, process requisitions, and provide status to worldwide customers. SCS [Mid-tier] is the SCS modernized system and is identified by DSD D035. The SCS [Mid-tier] has approximately 2,053,431 Lines of Code (LOC). SCS has over 11,000 Air Force and United States Marine Corp (USMC) worldwide users, such as: Marine Corps Logistics Command (MCLC) and Deployed Marine Corps (MC) Units, Army, Navy, and USMC Source of Supplies, Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS), Air Logistics Centers (ALCs), Supply at Base Level, AF Depot Maintenance Personnel, Supply at Base Level, Item Managers, Major Commands (MAJCOMs), AF Deployed Units, HQ AFMC/FM, HQ AFMC/LG.
