Description
Project will provide for replacement of existing stream crossing with a bottomless corrugated steel box culvert. The project is located about 5.2 miles south of Callaham, CA on Forest Service Road 40N17 near the Middle Boulder Trailhead on the Klamath National Forest. The work will consist of complete creek channel diversion, removal and disposal of existing corrugated structural plate pipe, traffic control, preparing, forming and pouring foundation for installation of a bottomless corrugated steel box culvert. The project will require excavating of fills and hauling and placing of fill and waste material. The project will also require haul and placement of Riprap rock and crushed rock road surfacing, placing geotextile, clearing, seeding and mulching. Project falls under the "Jobs-in-the-Wood" Initiative. As part of the President's Forest Plan for the Northwest, the President determined it is in the public interest to provide increased employment opportunities for workers displaced from their jobs by reduced timber harvesting on Federal lands in Washington, Oregon, and Northern California. The Initiative is referred to as "Jobs-in-the-Woods." To assess the Agency success of this initiative, it is important that Contractors comply with the requirements contained elsewhere herein. Notice to Bidders: Competition for this project is being limited to the "affected areas" (i.e., County) identified pursuant to the waiver of Full and Open Competition approved by the Secretary of Agriculture under 41 USC 253 (C)(7), Public Interest.
