Description
Fleet and Industrial Supply Center, (FISC) Seal Beach, intends to negotiate on a Sole Source Basis with Nittany Scientific, Riverton, UT, for the following: 1 EA #NSI-PA812 Polarization-Agile Directional UWB Antenna. Polarization-Agile Directional Ultrawideband Antenna to transmit and receive throughout a broadband frequency range (as high as 16 GHz, but particularly in the 8 to 12 GHz X-Band frequency range). High gain and low radar cross section (RCS), with thermally-cycled materials , providing maximum output power and range in both transmit and receive, with high efficiency and low-loss properties. Compact, lightweight, stand-alone unit with high power output, sensitivity, gain on transmit, without groundplane, baluns, etc. Operates throughout the entire ultrawideband frequency range of 200 MHz to 16 GHz, utilizing specialized dieletrics for ultrawideband metallic broadband antennas. Antenna must be capable to dynamically adjust polarization to detect the presence of adversary signs such as FMCW radars. Performance requirements include: high directivity, 50 ohm input impedance, high gain (increasing with frequency), low radar cross section (RCS) , nearly constant effective aperture, constant high power on target, under environmental challenges including platform movement, shock, etc. The antenna is part of an Ultrawideband Information Warfare (IW) system for submarine platforms and used for signal detection capabilities onboard Navy submarines. Antenna must meet all the performance, electrical and technology criteria of this intricately intersystem to insure that the dielectric properties, and the specialized functional capabilities, are maintained under operational conditions.
