Description

The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) proposes to procure approximately 275 Tactical Aircraft Moving Map Capability (TAMMAC) Advanced Memory Units (AMU) and 235 Mounting Plates. The production support element of this procurement will include, but is not limited to, engineering investigations, engineering change proposals, integration and testing, spare and repair parts, engineering technical support, obsolescence analysis and redesign, and integrated logistics support. The contract will be awarded on a sole source negotiated basis to Smiths Aerospace Inc., Electronic Systems, Grand Rapids, MI and will consist of a base award with option units. These options will include approximately 689 AMU?s and 546 Mounting Plates planned for the procurement over the remaining 3 years. The contract is anticipated to be awarded by Jan 2005. Smiths is the sole designer, developer and supplier of the AMU and its Mounting Plates and is the only company with the necessary knowledge, technical data, equipment and experience and is the only source able to satisfy the government's requirements for TAMMAC AMU production installations into F/A-18E/F/G, AV-8B and UH-1Z/AH-1Y aircraft. Delivery is required to the aircraft manufacturer and will be required within 12 months of contract award or option exercise. This synopsis is not a request for proposals. The Government does not intend to fund the development or qualification of other sources for fulfilling this requirement, as production of the supplies listed requires a substantial initial investment or an extended period of preparation for manufacture.
