- CLASS CODES Engineer Mission Module (EMM)-Water Distributor (WD) / /Load Handling System (LHS) Compatible (LHS) Water Tank-rack System (HIPPO). The U.S. Army plans on soliciting and awarding a production contract for the EMM/HIPPO. The production e ffort requires a technique that will support common frames/platforms for both the EMM-WD/HIPPO. THE EMM-WD will have a minimum capacity of 1,750 gallons (2,000 gallons desired) and will allow the transportation of partial non-potable water loads. The EMM will be outfitted with a tank, water pump, hose reel, water cannon, control panel, swing down folding tank rack, dump valves on both sides and rear and optional heating device. The primarysole mission of the EMM-Water Distributor is to serve as a water te nder for the Tactical Fire Fighting Truck. It will be capable of drafting from lakes, streams, and hydrants and transporting water for fire fighting teams and adding additional fire fighting capability. Mobility requirements of the HEMTT-LHS, PLS and PLS trailer will not be affected while transporting the Water Distributor. The Water Distributor must be certified for the transport of water over public highways and meet all EPA, SAE, DOT, and OSHA requirements applicable to a Water Distributor in the 2000 gallon capacity class at the time of manufacture. The EMM Distributor shall meet ISO freight container requirements and be capable of tank-racks and meet requirements of worldwide inter-modal shipping. Along with the EMM-WD, the Army intends to conduct a re-procurement of the HIPPO. The HIPPO (potable water) will consists of a 2000-gallon ISO compatible potable nternational Standards Organization HEMTT-LHS or similar vehicle-compatible water tank-rack c apable of being transported by the HEMTT-LHS or similar vehicle. The Hippo is equipped with an on-board a water pump, retail filling stand, and hose reel35-foot hose reel, and bulk suction and discharge hoses. The HIPPO haswill have the capability toof se lf-load, dispense, and circulate its of water payload. water recirculationWith manual re-chlorination using currently available chlorinates, recirculation, sample ports, and a means to re-chlorinate water using chlorinates currently available in the supply system. iIt will meet and maintain the minimum water quality standards for potable water of the U.S. Army Office of the Surgeon General. The HIPPO will be mobile whether filled, partially filled, or empty, and will maintain the current level of .. It w ill have the same mobility ofas its tactical prime mover, the HEMTT-LHS or similar vehicle. It will be capable of performing both bulk ATCL-CG and retail water distribution missions. It will be capable of distributing water far forward to individual man euver elements when needed, and will be capable of dispensing water while mounted on the prime mover or trailer or while sitting on the ground. To allow for operation in ambient temperatures down to minus 25 degrees Fahrenheit, the HIPPO will have the add -on heating capability to that will protect its the water tank and other its components from freezing.
