Description
This is an amendment to Solicitation No. SB1341-04-Q-0630 ? posted to Fedbizopps and FedBid on 6-15-04. The following questions have been raised and are hereby answered and made a part of the Solicitation. In addition, the due date for response is hereby extended to July 6, 2004, at 12:00 Noon, Eastern Standard Time. Question 1. Please clarify in writing what post footing application is required on the permanent fence? It's our recommendation that all posts have at least a mechanical anchoring system? Answer: Please reference the attached Maryland Department of Transportation (State Highway Administration) Standard No. MD 690.24 - Chain Link Fence Drive Anchor Shoe Assembly. It illustrates two drive anchor blades 1 1/2" X 1 1/2" x 30" Long. Please reference the detail for additional specifications. All terminal posts shall be in concrete as specified in the technical specifications. All line posts shall be installed per Standard No. MD 690.24. Question 2. Please clarify if you want footings pulled on the existing fence or cut-off at grade. What do you want us to fill the holes with? Do you have to compact the fill? Answer: Please reference statement of work paragraph which states in part ".......The posts and all associated hardware will also be removed and saved for reuse. The posts that are set in concrete will not be reused. Contractor shall REMOVE CONCRETE BASE COMPLETELY. Every 10th post is in concrete as are terminal posts." Yes, all of the concrete base shall be removed, so none exists below grade. Yes, the contractor will be required to back fill all holes in the earth due to removal of fence posts. No back fill exists on the project site. The contractor will be required to provide suitable fill. The contractor shall compact the suitable fill to 90% relative compaction and compact every 24 inches. ALL OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS REMAIN UNCHANGED AND IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT.
