Description

Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Orlando, TSD intends to issue a Firm Fixed Price (FFP) contract to L3 Communications on a sole source basis for ISDN Hardware and Information. NAVAIR Orlando has been tasked with developing a communication box for the BFTT training system that will integrate the separate trainers on the BFTT network with the tactical radio communications of the fleet and specifically the new LPD-17 class of ship. This ship uses an ISDN based communications network with a MARCOM 2000 tactical radio switch made by L3 communications. In order to develop a communications box that can talk to the tactical radio we have to be able to interface with the MARCOM 2000 over the tactical network. To this end, we intend to purchase a tactical MARCOM 2000 switch and to utilize it in our lab at NAVAIR Orlando. This will allow our developers to directly interface with a tactical switch during the integration and testing phase of the development thereby insuring that the design is verified before it goes to the ship. This acquisition will consist of the MARCOM 2000 switch, peripherals, installation and interface data. The estimated value of this award is $139,000. This notice is published to satisfy the requirements of FAR Part 5. This is not a request for competitive proposals.
