Description
This is the second of two planned announcements for this requirement. The Federal Bureau of Prisons, Field Acquisition Office, located at Kansas City, Kansas intends to issue a solicitation with a requirement to upgrade the fire alarm system at a metropolitan correctional center, located at Chicago, Illinois. The prison is the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) Chicago, Illinois, which is a high-rise building, downtown Chicago, Illinois. This institution is located in the loop area of Chicago, and has no parking. Working conditions will be confined, with slow movement from floor to floor. Entering and exiting the building (through the security-grills) takes approximately thirty minutes, each way. The magnitude of construction is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS 2002) code applicable to this notice is 561621, with a size standard of $10.5 million, last three year?s average gross receipts. Contract duration will be 240 calendar days from notice-to-proceed. Bid, performance and payment-bonds will be required. Posting of the solicitation on this web site, is projected to be on or after July 16, 2004, with a projected bid due-date of August 18, 2004. This is a 100% small business set-aside. Numbered note 1 applies to this synopsis. Security investigations and subsequent clearances issued by the Federal Bureau of Prisons will be required for all staff who perform this contract on the grounds of a federal prison. The solicitation, all amendments, and related future information will be distributed solely through this website (http://www.fedbizopps.gov/). Hard copies of the solicitation will not be available. Interested parties are responsible for monitoring this website to ensure that they have the most up-to-date information about this acquisition. All responsible small business sources are encouraged to submit a bid that will be considered for award. Residency requirements are applicable to this solicitation. This will require a certification that for three of the five years immediately prior to responding to this solicitation, the bidder has: resided in the United States; worked for the U.S. overseas in a Federal or military capacity; or has been a dependent of a Federal or military employee serving overseas. Faith-Based and Community-Based Organizations have the right to submit bids equally with other organizations for contracts for which they are eligible.
