- Under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.5, the U.S. RDECOM Acquisition Center, Natick Contracting Division, Natick, MA intends to place a purchase order on a sole source basis with Clemson Apparel Research (CAR), Clemson Univer sity, 500 Lebannon Road, Pendleton, SC 29670, to conduct a pattern validation and manufacturability study for the proposed new Army Combat Uniform (ACU). The government has developed specifications and patterns, however desires to validate the patterns and optimize the manufacturability of the garment. The focus of the study will be to validate the current patterns, minimize standard direct sewing labor minutes per garment and maximize the fabric yield at cutting. In addition, patterns and specifications wi ll be reviewed for accuracy, coordination and ease of understanding.
