Description
The Office of Naval Research (ONR) has a requirement for continuing the development of the Virtual At-Sea Training (VAST)family of combat training and mission rehearsal systems. The current focus of VAST is on development of a portable air ASW training system, called the Mission Rehearsal Tactical Team Trainer (MRT3) that supports the enhancement and maintenance of tactical team training skills for all nodes in battlegroup ASW, including SH-60s, P3s, IUSS assets, and AX nodes. The proposed action is to carry out applied research to upgrade the multiple SH-60B MRT3 to ensure the long-term reliability and usability during deployed training and to upgrade existing MRT3 devices to ensure expandability to additional platforms when called upon to do so. This research effort requires the performer to have extensive expertise in modeling and simulation for military training, in Fleet needs and requirements related to integrated air ASW training, and specifically with the MRT3 system that has been developed over the past two years with ONR and JFCOM funding. It is ONR's intention to negotiate this on a sole source basis with BMH Associates Inc, Norfolk, VA. The period of performance will be nine (9) months. Any capability statements should be submitted to Susan Parrott, Fax (703)696-0993, E-mail susan_parrott@onr.navy.mil, or via mail to Office of Naval Research, BCT 1 ONR 254: SKP, 800 North Quincy Street, Arlington, VA 22217-5660. See Note 22.
