Description
The U.S. Geological Survey, Eastern Region Geography Division, Reston, VA, has a requirement to make a non- competitive award via written request for quotation No. 04ER11 No Solicitation number for a Contract with WV GIS Technical Center to purchase elevation data supporting the DOI Agencies in West Virginia and the National Mapping. West Virginia Stateside Addressing and Mapping Board (WVSAMB) is uniquely positioned to provide current, accurate, high-resolution digital elevation data for the State of West Virginia. The statewide high resolution mass points and break lines produced by the WVSAMB mapping program will be the source base data for populating the USGS National Elevation Dataset (NED), which is the elevation component of The National Map. The WVSAMB is the only known source that can provide the required statewide digital elevation data at this time. There are no other known sources currently possessing data that statewide, and are this current, or at this resolution. In order to use this elevation source to populate the USGS NED, the data must first be reformatted to grid format that can be ingested into the NED. The pilot project for this data reformatting function will be performed by the West Virginia GIS Technical Center (Tech Center). The tech center uniquely suited to this task due to its status as the official agent of the West Virginia GIS coordinator, who is also the manager of the WVSAMB. This recognition enables the Tech Center to have access to the otherwise restricted access elevation data. The U.S. Geological Survey anticipates awarding this to West Virginia Technical Center. THIS NOTICE IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. The anticipated award date is 06/18/2004. NAICS is 334611 and SIC is 7372. Information will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Determination to compete this requirement is solely within the discretion of the Government. Responses to this notice must be submitted via e-mail to: abenton@usgs.gov by 06/18/2004. No additional synopsis will be published.
