Description
This is a Pre-Solicitation Notice. There is no solicitation available at this time. The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) plans to release a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) on or about 11 June 2004. Research and Development is being sought in the area of Integrated Micro-Climatization Systems. Multiple awards are anticipated. The objective is to research and develop an integrated microclimatization system that provides thermal regulation (cooling and heating) of operators throughout the spectrum of operational environments, missions and tactical ensembles such that the operator?s core temperature stays within safe limits (97F ? 102F), and ideally allowing for ranges corresponding to optimal performance (98F ? 100F). The system should add as little burden as possible in terms of weight and tactical agility. The system will be lightweight and easily employed to provide ?individual micro-climatization? while interoperative with clothing and equipment, including Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) protective ensembles. It will enhance individual performance and personal safety while functioning in an extreme climate (hot or cold) or other instances of burden caused by clothing or workload. The system will be capable of operating in CBRN contaminated environments. Specific information regarding the format of submissions, contents, schedules, and evaluation criteria will be provided with the BAA. The estimated release date for the BAA is 11 June 2004. This announcement in no way commits the Government to issue a solicitation or make a contract award(s).
