- This announcement is not a formal solicitation and is not a request for proposals. Any formal solicitation will be announced separately. This announcement is for information and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The Department of Navy (DON) PEO-IT, in response to DON Objectives for 2004, is seeking Industry Best enterprise-wide solutions for IT server consolidation and application re-hosting. PEO-IT is particularly interested in information from IT service providers who have successfully implemented large-scale approaches similar to those required to meet the Navy?s goals in enterprise server consolidation of similar size and complexity. Firms are invited to attend an Industry Day (unclassified), sponsored by PEO-IT. The meeting will be held at The New Orleans Marriott, New Orleans, LA, on June 24, 2004, beginning at 8:00 A.M and ending approximately 12:00 PM During the course of the Industry Day, the DON will brief participants on the objectives, scope, and complexity of the Navy?s expected server consolidation efforts. Additionally, following Industry Day, a Request for Information (RFI) will be distributed to attendees intended to solicit responses from the broad IT services community on innovative server consolidation implementation strategies and concepts to be considered in developing an overarching technology roadmap. Concepts for the roadmap are submitted only for the purpose of informing the DON about potential candidate solutions for IT server consolidation and application re-hosting. This is NOT a solicitation for proposals. All information submitted may be shared publicly and may be modified for use in the technology roadmap. The submittal of a solution or concept to this request shall not constitute an acknowledgement that the submitter is a preferred source of information about the solution or concept. Proprietary information must not be submitted and cannot be accepted. Generally, this RFI will request information regarding: - Proven strategies; - Best Practices; - Metrics; - Approaches, for: a. Reducing ownership costs by rationalizing and reducing Navy servers and legacy networks; b. Improving network performance, security and continuity of operations capabilities by ensuring the enterprise meets all applicable standards; c. Lowering maintenance costs for the enterprise; d. Leveraging the capabilities enabled by the Navy Marine Corps Intranet. Industry Day attendance is limited to two participants per company.
