- Description
- The project provides a protective beach with a berm and dune to reduce the potential storm damage at Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach, DE. The project consists of one continuous project, from the northern end of Rehoboth Beach to the southern border o f Dewey Beach, a distance of 13,500 feet. At Rehoboth Beach, the project provides for a 125-foot wide berm at an elevation of +7.2 feet NAVD with a dune at a top elevation of +13.2 feet NAVD. At Dewey Beach, the project transitions to a 150-foot wide ber m at an elevation of +7.2 feet NAVD with a dune at a top elevation of +13.2 feet NAVD. Approximately 1.7 million cubic yards of sand is required for the initial construction of the project and will be obtained from an offshore borrow area. The project al so provides for dune grass planting, sand dune fencing, vehicle access ramps, and dune walkovers. There will be three separate options of 150,000 cy each for additional beachfill if the Contracting Officer determines that additional beachfill is required based on the results of pre-placement surveys and changing site conditions as they occur during the contract period. The Invitation For Bid Number (IFB) W912BU-04-B-0014 will be available on the Internet Web pages on or about 18 June 2004. Hard copies wil l not be available. No written or fax requests will be accepted. Contractors shall download this IFB (including drawings) and all Amendments from the Internet web page at the following address https://ebs.nap.usace.army.mil on or after the issue date of the IFB. The official media of distribution for the IFB is the Internet Web Page. It is the contractors responsibility to monitor the web page for any amendments. Interested contractors must register on the Internet Web page. If any of the contractors information changes during the advertisement period, contractors are responsible to make changes to their user profile on the Internet Web Page. Failure to make changes in their user profile may cause for delay in receiving notification of the IFB and Am endments. Bids will be due on or about 20 July 2004. NAICS code is 237990 with a size standard of $17.0. Bonding is required. The contract duration will be 270 calendar days. All contractors are required to be registered in the DODs Central Contrac t Register before award as required by DFARS 204.7300.
