- THIS IS A COMBINED SYNOPSIS/SOLICITATION FOR COMMERICAL ITEMS PREPARED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FORMAT IN FEDERAL ACQUISITION REGULATION (FAR) SUBPART 12.6, AS SUPPLEMENTED WITH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION INCLUDED IN THIS NOTICE. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT CONSTITUTES THE ONLY SOLICITATION; QUOTATIONS ARE BEING REQUESTED AND A WRITTEN SOLICITATION WILL NOT BE ISSUED. This solicitation W914NS-04-Q-2363 is Amended to incorporate the following questions and answers. The date for receipt of quotes remains 19 May 2004. AMENDMENT 0002 DABV01-04-Q2363 The following questions have been asked by various vendors. This amendment is issued to provide all questions and all answers to each vendor. 1. QUESTION: It does not seem that any one manufacturer can produce 3500 belts in 30 days. Will it be OK to supply multiple manufacturers to complete? ANSWER: It is acceptable to supply more than one manufacturer as long as all belts meet the stated specifications. 2. QUESTION: Lineman’s pliers item 7 (same problem as above) plus the RFQ has 5kv rate, where all manufacturers are rated at lkv tested to 10kv but only listed at l kv. ANSWER: As long as the priers are tested to 10kv, this will be acceptable. 3. QUESTION: Protective boots. Are these over boot or over sock? If over boot some manufacturers do not have ½ sizes. ANSWER: The boots are over the boot type boots. Make all attempts to provide ½ sizes. If unable to provide ½ sizes so state in your proposal. 4. QUESTION: Coveralls is any color acceptable? Which is acceptable, long or short sleeve? Must they be fire retardant? ANSWER: Any color of coveralls is acceptable. The coveralls must be long sleeve and the material must be non conductive. 5. QUESTION: You are requesting 6650 Protective Coveralls. Is there a specific type of fabric they were interested in such as Nomex IIIA, Ultra Soft? Is there a particular ATPV rating required for the garments? ANSWER: The coveralls must be non conductive material. 6. QUESTION: Work Uniform. What fabric type for these garments? Are these flame-resistant or non-flame resistant garments? ANSWER: A Standard work uniform is acceptable. 7. QUESTION: Will other than fiberglass helmets be excepted if it meets ANSI standard Z89.2 1971? ANSWER: The most important aspect of the safety helmet is that it meet OSHA standards. 8. QUESTION: Several vendors have questioned about available Freight Forwarder contractors.
