Description
This project will provide for the refurbishment of 5 water tanks located at the Nevada Test Site (NTS), Mercury, Nevada, Areas 5, 12, 18, and 23. Area 5 ? Booster Tank (56,000 gallons) 20? diameter x 24? high Area 12 ? South Tank (500,000 gallons) 60? diameter x 24? high Area 18 ? Well 8 Lower Tank (63,000 gallons) 22? diameter x 24?-2? high Area 18 ? Well 8 Hilltop Tank (48,000 gallons) 16? x 32? high Area 23 ? Mercury South Tank (1,500,000 gallons) 80? diameter x 40?-6? high Work to be performed at each tank site is as follows: Remove both the interior and exterior surface coatings using methods appropriate to control hazardous waste residue. After the paint coatings are removed, all structural components of the tanks are to be examined for faults or failures due to corrosion and repaired as required. Minor repairs, if necessary, shall be completed. Each tank will be modified in the following manner to eliminate safety deficiencies that are in violation of the current OSHA and AWWA standards, as applicable. Install a second manhole opposite the existing manhole. Install handrails around the perimeter of the tank roof. Install a safety gate at the roof end of the ladder. Install a second roof hatch. Install/replace interior/exterior ladders to meet OSHA standards, including the installation of new mid-level landings if the ladders are 30 feet high or higher. Request all interested parties submit: A list demonstrating experience executing projects of this magnitude and scope and at least 2yrs. experience Submit the table of contents of their company safety plan. 2 or 3 References Experience Modification Rate (EMR).
