Description
Requirements for Vertical Break Disconnect Switch Replacement Parts and Insulators. These switches were manufactured in the early 1960s and installed at Western?s Hayden Substation. No drawings are available for exact dimensions of the switches. The switches are standard 3 phase outdoor air break disconnect switches. Only the current carrying parts, geared crank operators and insulators are required in this procurement action. The disconnect switches were manufactured by: General Electric, Type RF 2, Number 195X987G2, 1200 Ampere rated continuous. The switches, once assembled in the substation, shall be suitable for the ratings specified below. ? 2000 Ampere rated continuous. ? 1050kV BIL rated. ? 230kV Nominal system voltage. ? 40,000 Momentary amperes. ? NEMA 4 hole terminal pads. ? New bolts are required for the installation of all new replacement parts. ? The switches are manually group operated. ? The switches have an end rotating insulator stack. ? Center to center of the end rotating stack insulator to the center insulator is 20 inches. Center to center from the center insulator to the jaw stack insulator is 112 inches. ? The insulator bolt circle is standard 5?on all insulators and switch components. The hole alignment is not square with the switch blade on the jaw end and the center insulator stack. The end rotating stack is square with the switch blade when in the closed position. ? Measuring vertically from the center of the switch blade to the top of the insulator stack is approximately 5?. ? The operator end of the disconnect switches mount directly to hard buss. Measuring vertically from the top of the insulator stack to the top of the NEMA 4 hole pad which connects to the hard buss is approximately 1 ??. ? Measuring horizontally from the center of the rotating end insulator stack to the outside end of the NEMA 4 hole pad which connects to the hard buss is approximately 2 1/2". ? The top of all insulators are the same height. ? The switches are required to be corona free. ? New brown insulators are required with the switches. ? Contacts: The main blade contacts shall be adjustable pressure, self-aligning, self-wiping, high-pressure contacts. All fixed contacts shall be backed by stainless-steel, or beryllium copper leaf springs, or be of the reverse current loop shape which eliminates contact burning under fault conditions. The current-carrying path shall not be through any spring. If the current path is through a moving pin, means shall be provided to maintain continuous, positive contact pressure on the pin. The shape of the material used for the contacts shall be such that there will be no galling of the contact metals when the switch is subjected to 500 open plus 500 close operations. ? Main Switch Blades: The blades shall be of hard-drawn copper or aluminum alloy for carrying the specified continuous and short-time currents. Stops, if required on the individual poles, shall be furnished as described below. If the blades are attached to castings, the blades and castings shall be connected by welding or by a bolted clamp. A press fit between blade and casting is not acceptable. The main blades of all switches shall be counterbalanced to prevent them from falling closed from any position. If spiral springs are used on the hinge end of the switch for counterbalancing, the housing shall be designed so that ice cannot build up on the spring to impair the switch operation. Pressed fit joints shall not be subjected to spring pressure during any part of a switch operation. ? Hinge and Clip-End Assemblies: Pole unit castings may be of bronze or aluminum alloy. Bearings in the hinge-end operating levers shall be of the ball, roller, oilite-sleeve, plastic, stainless steel, or ball-and-socket type. All such bearings shall be firmly fixed in place and shall not require replacement or maintenance before performing at least 500 close-open operations. Stops shall be provided and the switch adjustments must provide for the blades to rest against the stops in the closed positions. Operators: The Gear Mechanism will be mounted approximately waist high, be crank driven to a horizontal worm gear which in turn drives a toothed gear with a vertical drive shaft. ? Utilize hardened steel gears. ? Bearings are to be fully lubricated and sealed from the weather and elements. Lubricants provided shall allow operation to ?0? degrees F. ? A 30:1 gear ratio is required. ? 1 ?? Hexagon output shaft is required. ? Adjustable stops for rotation is required. ? The Gear Mechanisms shall be capable of field conversion to clockwise or counter clockwise operation. ? Four mounting holes are required, 5? horizontally and 4? vertically. The mounting holes shall be suitable for ?? bolts minimum. ? The measurement from the face of the mounting surface to the centerline of the vertical drive shaft shall be 6?. ? An adapter for the 1 ?? drive shaft to 2? pipe shall be included. ? A 24? flexible braided ground strap is required with each mechanism. Quantity: 8 ea. This will be a firm fixed price contract with delivery 60 days from date of award. FOB Destination. Approximate issue date is 20 May 2004 with closing date 14 days from issue.
