- The Mental Health & Behavioral Sciences Compensation and Pension (C&P) examination psychiatrist position is a full time fee-basis position. The position is paid per examination commensurate with the examiners level of experience in conducting Mental Health examinations. The provider must conduct 8-12 compensation and pension examinations per day, Monday thru Friday. These examination reports must be dictated by close of business each day. This position requires a psychiatrist with at least 3 years of experience in providing compensation and pension examinations for veterans with service- connected disabilities. The psychiatrist must also have experience in diagnosing a broad range of psychiatric disorders and must be Board Certified/Eligible in Psychiatry. The successful provider must be able to be privileged by the medical staff of VA New Jersey Health Care System to conduct psychiatric compensation and pension examinations. The physician must provide psychiatric compensation and pension examinations on veterans requesting service-connected disability for their psychiatric disorders and symptoms. The physician must provide the following types of psychiatric compensation and pension examinations: 1) Mental Disorders 2) Initial Post Traumatic Stress Disorder 3) Review Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The provider must write psychiatric opinions to resolve conflicting diagnoses in respect to the relationship between veterans psychiatric symptoms and opposing diagnoses. The provider must be able to assess the extent to which the resultant diagnosis or diagnoses relate to a veterans military experiences. The provider must provide a psychiatric opinion on general compensation and pension issues as these relate to a veterans psychiatric disorder(s) and a veterans military experience(s). The provider must Chair a Board of Psychiatrists to review complex psychiatric compensation and pension examination issues and resolve conflicting diagnoses from other providers. The provider must conduct quality review studies on Mental Health compensation and pension examinations.
