THIS NOTICE DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS ? IT IS FOR MARKET RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY. Detailed information on the Contractor?s experience and expertise in building the same or similar equipment must be sent to the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Acquisition and Logistics Division, Attn: Carol A. Wood, Contract Specialist, 100 Bureau Drive, Mail Stop 3571, Gaithersburg, MD 20899-3571. Submission must be received by 3:00 pm local time on May 21, 2004. Original submissions are required. HIGH QUALITY CRYOGENIC ALUMINUM MIRRORS FOR USE IN HIGH VACUUM, 20 K ENVIRONMENT. The Low Background Infrared (LBIR) facility performs infrared radiometric measurements in 20 K background environments under ultrahigh vacuum conditions. The LBIR facility is currently seeking to purchase a set of cryogenic mirrors. The set consists of four types of mirrors: (1) Three 7cm clear aperture off axis paraboloids; (2) Four 2cm clear aperture off-axis paraboloids; (3) Two 2cm clear aperture off-axis ellipsoids; and (4) Eight 2cm by 2cm clear aperture elliptical flat mirrors. All of the mirrors shall at least meet the following requirements: (1) Be made of solid aluminum that is gold plated on at least the reflecting surface; (2) Maximum P-V figure irregularity of 1/8 wave @ 632.8 nm at 300 K; (3) maximum RMS figure irregularity of 0.025 wave @ 632.8 nm at 300 K; and (4) maximum P-V figure irregularity of 1 wave @ 632.8 nm at 20 K. The wavefront performance shall be measured and reported for all mirrors at 300 K. The wavefront performance shall be measured for one of the 7 cm clear aperture off axis paraboloids and one of the 2 cm clear aperture flats at a temperature of 250 K or lower. Proposed drawings for each of the mirrors are provided as attachments as self contained executable e-drawings with the following file names: BXR II Flat.ex, BXR II Primary Paraboloid.ex, BXR II Secondary Paraboloid.ex, BXR II Tertiary Paraboloid.ex, BXR II Ellipsoid.ex. The files can be executed by adding an additional ?e? to the file name extension, and then running the file. Interested offerors shall submit E-mail or fax requests for these documents to carol.wood@nist.gov.
